DECT devices made for use in the US
use the term DECT 6.0 to distinguish them from both DECT devices used elsewhere. This is a newly available
frequency band, 1.9 GHz, that provides improved range without needing to boost the power. DECT 6.0
communication products utilize the appropriate frequency band of 1920 – 1930 MHz which has been allocated
by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for Unlicensed Personal Communications Service (UPCS).
The FCC has emphasized the public interest of its decision on favor of the DECT technology. The frequency
band for the usage of DECT telephony has been redefined within the scope of a general reorganization of
the frequency bands in the USA.
The proven and reliable DECT 6.0 technology provides all the advantages for private consumers and small and
medium sized companies: brilliant quality of voice and sound, high protection against wiretapping, better range
(up to 600 meters) than 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz phone systems, simultaneous usage of multiple cordless phones,
toll free internal calls, handover, and various additional features such as VoIP and push-to-talk (walkie-talkie),
which are operator-dependent. DECT 6.0 products has superior performance than 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz
systems.
This DECT technology can easily be integrated into WLAN systems without negative impact because DECT 6.0
resides in the UPCS band. The “listen before transmit” – standard avoids interference even when the spectrum
usage increases. This results for a crystal clear conversations.
This platform is designed only for cordless phone communication. No other electronic devices can transmit on
this frequency so your phone doesn’t have to compete with other devices. No competition means you get the
best cordless phone sound quality and better range than all other phone technologies.
